Customs: Food exports become main source for Russian budget income
VLADIVOSTOK, Sep 19 (PRIME) -- Food exports are becoming the main source for Russia’s budget revenue after energy sources, Russia’s grain exports have almost increased as compared with 2022, Director of the Federal Customs Service Ruslan Davydov said in an interview with PRIME on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, released on Tuesday.
“Our agricultural products exports rise well. The president said about it, we have almost exceeded last year’s exporting figures. We mainly export grain now, it is the lion’s share. And also oil seeds, oil, vegetable oil, sunflower seeds. These are the main ones,” he said.
Davydov added that China, the Middle East, Egypt and Kazakhstan are the main importers of Russian food.
He also said that Russia’s food exports have increased by around 70% in volume terms, but less in value terms due to the price situation.
Davydov said that Russia’s car cargo transportation more than doubled on the year in the past months of 2023.
“We have both sea cargoes and railways cargoes traffic growing very well. And the car cargo traffic rose 2.5-fold as compared with 2022,” he said.
China’s share in Russia’s car imports amounted to 92% in January–August, Davydov also said.
